A Connecticut father is outraged after learning that his eight-grade son was being taught in school that Americans don’t have the right to bear arms, as guaranteed to us in the Second Amendment of the United States Constitution.
“I am appalled,” Steven Boibeaux told Fox News Radio. “It sounds to me like they are trying to indoctrinate our kids.”
According to Boibeaux, his son was given a worksheet Monday that claimed that the courts over time have taken away our right to own a gun in the U.S.
“The courts have consistently determined that the Second Amendment does not ensure each individual the right to bear arms,” the worksheet states. “The courts have never found a law regulating the private ownership of weapons unconstitutional.
The worksheet continues on to insinuate that the Second Amendment “only provides the right of a state to keep an armed National Guard.”
According to Mat Staver, the founder and chairman of the Liberty Council, the lesson was not only wrong, but also a form of propaganda.
“In fact, the US Supreme Court has affirmed that the Second Amendment ensures the individual the right to bear arms,” Staver told Fox News. “The progressive interpretation of the Second Amendment is that it doesn’t give you the right to bear arms – that it’s a corporate right of the government – but that has been rejected by the Courts.”
Fortunately, students at this school won’t have to be exposed to this lesson much longer. The district superintendent told Fox News that she will pull the assignment from the classroom.
