Hipsters are one of those groups of Americans that people either love or hate. After all, what’s not to love about independent thinking, indie rock-loving, vintage clothes-wearing Bohemians?!?
One thing that does ring true about hipsters, however, is that they tend to live in similar areas – whether it be Brooklyn, New York City, San Francisco or another urban locale in the U.S. With that in mind, RealtyTrac recently released a list of the top 25 zip codes for renting apartments to hipsters (because, really, how many hipsters are buying their own pad these days?!?)
Among the characteristics RealtyTrac used to decide the top zip codes were high populations of 25-34-year-olds living in the area, the percentage of people who use public transportation or walk to work, and the percentage of people who live in the area who rent apartments.
“Thanks to an influx of trendy restaurants, bars, coffee shops and other amenities, a neighborhood branded as hipster is likely to see property values and rental rates rise while vacancies and foreclosures decline,” RealtyTracVice President Daren Blomquist wrote in the introduction to the analysis.
Listed below are the top 10 zip codes, some of which might actually surprise you. The full list can be found here.
