CNN host Piers Morgan launched into yet another gun control-laced Twitter rant Wednesday, accusing conservative pundit Ben Shapiro of “allowing more and more [graves] to be dug” in the wake of last year’s shooting at Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown, Mass.
Morgan, who started his Twitter rant after the tapes of the 911 calls placed from the school were released publicly Wednesday morning, also claimed that the “only significant impact of Sandy Hook massacre was that sales of the AR-15 rifle used by the killer rocketed in 2013.”
Earlier in the day an interview he had given to fellow CNN host Fareed Zakaria on gun control was published online. In the interview, Morgan declared that there was “no reason for any civilian to own assault rifles – I would ban all of them” and that he would “introduce heavy punishment for not keeping firearms 100 percent secured in the home.”
“[T]he single biggest contributory factor in gun violence in the United States is…guns. There are just too many of them, and it’s far too easy to buy one,” he said.
