Former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee has a successful Fox News TV show, and until last month he had a nationally syndicated daily talk radio show as well. On Tuesday, however, the 2008 – and possibly 2016 – presidential nominee announced his latest media venture to the world: the “Huckabee Post.”
The site, which will go live in January, will cover politics, sports, pop culture and more – all from a conservative angle. it will be a joint partnership with Christian Media Corp. International, which currently publishes The Christian Post.
“The concept, it’s a partnership with Christian Media Corp., who already have a lot of the back end resources in place,” Huckabee told POLITICO. “And then we’ll use people that we know, people that have been associates and partners in other endeavors, and hopefully it will catch on as a destination for people to get some unique perspective, which will reflect a conservative, often what I would call traditional, approach to politics and faith, entertainment, culture and sports.”
According to ABC News, Huckabee’s son David said that the site “is a natural extension and expansion” of the news and commentary his father already does online and through other media platforms like TV and Facebook. The former governor has more than 1.3 million followers on Facebook.
“The Facebook page has really been very successful,” Huckabee said. “I don’t use it to just to post a picture. It’s more content that evokes discussion and topical content of the day. And Facebook has taken notice and they feel like we have accomplished in many ways what they wanted Facebook to be, which is more of a community of people talking as opposed to just people posting very personal things about oneself.”
“And so what we’re going to do with the Huckabee Post is, it’ll be a compilation of really not just politics, we’ll have people post content on sports, entertainment and a wide variety of perspectives,” he added.
