CDC uses ‘Game of Thrones’ to promote winter weather safety

“Winter is coming,” and the federal government wants to make sure you’re ready to deal with it and the blistering cold coming over the next few months.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention is encouraging Americans to send their friends and loved ones e-cards based on the popular book and HBO TV show “Game of Thrones” containing tips on how to deal with snow and cold temperatures

The front of the e-Card features a map of the United States with the words “Winter is coming… be ready” on it, while the inside has tips on how to create a “Family Communications Plan,” what items should be kept in one’s car and pantry for emergencies, travel tips, and how to weatherize one’s home.

Individuals can send the card to five different people on their own, or email the CDC to have the message sent to a large group of people. Senders can also choose to include a personalized message containing less than 500 characters with the card as well.

Unfortunately, the card doesn’t give any helpful tips on how to elude the “White Walkers” or other mythological enemies this season.
