Kentucky Sen. Rand Paul received quite an unusual gift for his birthday Wednesday – and as a result had a bit too much fun with it at the Fox News studios.
The potential 2016 Republican presidential candidate was given a drone by fellow Sen. Mike Lee (R-Utah) that he couldn’t help but play with throughout the day. In fact, Paul even quipped to Fox News’ Greta Van Susteren that he might use his new toy to spy on the weekly Democratic lunches.
“You may wonder, what am I going to do with a drone? Well, it’s got a laser. And I’ve been trying to get invited to the Democrat lunch for about a year now and they won’t invite me… So you know what? I think I’m going to send my drone in.”
Paul also told Greta that his new drone has camera and audio capabilities, but he hasn’t installed them yet because he “has to check the rules” on that.
Prior to the segment, Paul launched his birthday present throughout the studio as caught on Instagram video by Fox News anchor Bret Baier.
Paul turned 51 on Wednesday. Last March, the Kentucky Senator delivered a 13-hour filibuster on drone use on American soil during the confirmation vote on now-Central Intelligence Director John Brennan.
